THE SEATTLE TIMES FUND FOR THE NEEDYDonate to The Seattle Times Fund For The Needy today. The Seattle Times Fund For The Needy was launched in 1979, and today is one of the best known holiday giving programs in the Pacific Northwest. The Fund, which supports local nonprofit agencies, receives support from community donors at all financial levels. Since The Seattle Times began the Fund For The Needy, more than $11.8* million has been raised to support vital community services for families and children. This project raises awareness of specific needs of people in the community and provides Seattle Times readers and community partners an opportunity to contribute. The Seattle Times directs 100 percent of Fund For The Needy donations to health and human service organizations and special projects that provide services to children and families in need. We place a special emphasis on preventative services to help break cycles of homelessness and poverty in our community. The Seattle Times has selected 13 agencies as primary beneficiaries. They are Asian Counseling & Referral Services, Atlantic Street Center, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Childhaven, Deaconess Children's Services, Family Services, Hopelink, Kent Youth and Family Services, Kindering Center, Senior Services, The Salvation Army, Treehouse and Youth Eastside Services. The Seattle Times news stories profiling clients of these agencies help raise support from Seattle Times readers.
